Projekt 78
Exhibition: Museum of Modern Art, New York, 2003
Installation involving 4 transparent photographs of empty display windows, mounted between two sheets of glass and built into a wall that bisects a space at its centre. This allows the images to be viewed from both sides; the room at the back seems like a reflection of the one in front. When looking at the images, the gaze also penetrates the room behind that is required to create the transparent image in the first place. The view of the space becomes superimposed with the photographic image and also with visitors who are looking at the same image from the other side.
Image sizes: 150cm x 250 cm and 150 cm x 270 cm
