Twins is an installation using two almost identical, adjoining square rooms with separate entrances. Both are divided by replica shop fronts. Covering the window panes are photographic transparencies of a view into an empty shop, where you can see a closed door and the reflection of houses opposite.
The replica shop fronts are installed in such as way as to make only part of each room accessible, with the other
side of the room visible through the glass. In the course of viewing the exhibition you enter both rooms, and each time find yourself standing in front of a large shop window with a view of a door and a reflection. The room behind the glass seems to correspond to the room you were in earlier, but is – as before – inaccessible. The transparency also differs slightly each time: the reflected views come from two different angles. You are not in fact on the other side of the same room, but on the other side of a different room.
