Double Transparency is a freestanding traversable structure of 12 wood frames spanned with transparent printed fabric to form a room-like enclosure. Walls that would normally offer solid support are transformed here into permeable vehicles of information. Three architectural sculptures are interspersed throughout the installation. The internal form implies a newly built modern apartment or a opposed to glass.
The transparency of the work connotes high tech architecture andthe pervasive superimposition of information and images that can no longer be viewed independently of each other. The frames and the roughly textured surfaces of the stuccoed pieces are allude to the scattered debris of architectural modernism.
The imagery of street scenes and unremarkable interiors refer to recognizable scenes from art history. At the same time they depict inspirational observations made in everyday surroundings. These are woven together in three dimensions when the viewer walks in the wooden frames.
